CCTV Cost Calculator

Cameras are the cheap part. Roughly half of a wired CCTV quote is cable routing, termination and the recorder, which is why a four-camera system costs far more than twice a two-camera one.

4 steps. System size, wired or wireless, access and region.

How this calculator works

The camera count sets the hardware and the recorder; the cabling is then priced per camera, which is why wired systems climb faster than wireless ones as you add cameras.

Working height is the third line. Two-storey eaves are ladder work; three storeys or an awkward elevation means a tower, and that is a day rate whether it is for one camera or four.

Not included: monitoring through an alarm receiving centre, which is ยฃ20โ€“ยฃ60 a month, and any network upgrade if your broadband router cannot take the recorder.

Around ยฃ700โ€“ยฃ1,500 for a wired PoE system with a recorder. Roughly half of that is cable routing, termination and the NVR rather than the cameras.

To install, yes โ€” there is no cable to run. Over time it costs you in battery changes and dropped connections, so wired is the better buy for anything permanent.

Not planning permission, but you take on legal duties. Once a domestic camera captures anything beyond your boundary, UK GDPR applies.

Rarely on its own. A monitored, graded intruder alarm moves a buildings premium far more often than cameras do. Ask your own insurer rather than assuming.
