Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this bathroom cost calculator?

It produces a realistic 2026 budget range rather than a fixed quote. Figures are based on typical UK supply-and-fit rates by bathroom type, project scope and finish, with a lowโ€“high band (about ยฑ15โ€“20%) for variation in the suite, tiling and your fitter's rates. Use it to set a budget; a firm price follows an itemised quote and a look at your room.

What's included in a cosmetic, partial and full refit?

A cosmetic refresh (new suite in the same positions, retile, repaint) is the cheapest at roughly 55% of a full refit. A partial refit (new suite and tiling but keeping the layout and some fittings) is about 80%. A full refit (100%) strips the room back and replaces everything. A full refit with a layout change โ€” moving the bath, WC or basin โ€” adds about 50% for the extra plumbing and making good.

Why is there a lowโ€“high price range rather than one price?

Bathrooms of the same size differ hugely on suite quality, tile choice, whether you add underfloor heating or a walk-in shower, and local labour. The low figure reflects a budget suite and ceramic tiles; the high figure reflects premium fittings, large-format or natural-stone tiles and extras. The band is the realistic spread until your spec is quoted.

Does the estimate cover the suite, tiling and labour?

Yes โ€” it is a supply-and-fit budget including the suite, tiling, fitting labour and VAT for the bathroom type and finish you pick. It excludes structural changes, moving soil pipes long distances and any work outside the bathroom, which a fitter would price separately on a quote.

What does moving the bath, basin or WC add?

Relocating fittings means new hot and cold feeds and waste runs, often lifting floors and chasing walls, plus extra making good and tiling. In the calculator that is the 'layout change' option, which adds roughly 50% over a like-for-like full refit. Keeping the suite in its existing positions is the cheapest way to refit.
