How this calculator works
Doors are priced per door, so the count matters more than the size of the room. Fifteen doors is a typical kitchen and the number most quotes are built around.
New hinges are worth adding on any kitchen over ten years old. Old hinges are usually why doors sit unevenly, and hanging new doors on tired hinges wastes the upgrade.
Before you order: measure. Standard carcass sizes make this easy on most mass-market kitchens and impossible on some older ones, where made-to-measure is the only route.

What changes a cabinet door replacement quote the most
The count is the headline: replacing doors and drawer fronts is priced per piece, so a galley with a dozen fronts is a very different job from a large kitchen-diner with thirty. Measure the fronts, not the floor area, if you want to sanity-check a quote.
Material sets the rest. Vinyl-wrapped MDF is the budget option and fine on cupboards away from the hob; a painted or solid-timber door costs more and lasts longer; a handleless or J-pull look needs consistent gaps and better hinges, which adds fitting time. New soft-close hinges and handles are cheap in isolation but add up across a full set.
The trap is fitting new fronts while the worktop or carcasses are tired — fresh doors on a dated top rarely look finished. If the units themselves are the problem, the refurbishment calculator covers the wider job.
Cabinet door calculator FAQs
On most mass-market kitchens, yes โ carcass sizes are largely standard. Older or bespoke kitchens often are not, and then you are into made-to-measure. Measure a door and a drawer front before ordering anything.
If the carcasses are solid and the layout works, doors give you most of the visual change for ยฃ1,000โยฃ3,000 against ยฃ5,000โยฃ15,000+. If the carcasses have swollen or the layout is wrong, put the money towards a new kitchen instead.
On any kitchen over about ten years old, yes. Worn hinges are usually why doors sag or sit unevenly, and it is ยฃ10โยฃ14 a door to put right while everything is off.
A fitter will hang fifteen doors in a day. The wait is in the doors themselves โ off-the-shelf is days, made-to-measure or painted-to-order is three to six weeks.
