In most cases no — a porch is one of the few additions that is still Permitted Development in 2026, provided it stays small. The external ground footprint must be under 3m², no part can be more than 3m high, and no part can sit within 2m of a boundary that fronts a highway. Break any one of those and you need full planning permission.
